Ownership, Funding & Structure

Funding sources

We are primarily funded by reader subscriptions and non-intrusive display advertising. We do not accept funding from any military organisation, defence contractor, or government agency.

Conflict of interest disclosure

The Editor-in-Chief, Mandeep Sajwan, and the Lead Strategic Analyst, Arvind Rao, hold no stock or financial interest in organisations covered in our defence or defence-technology reporting. Any potential conflicts of interest related to contributors are disclosed at the end of relevant articles.

Our Team & Editorial Leadership

The Indian Hawk’s analysis is produced by a multidisciplinary team of journalists, analysts and researchers with domain expertise in defence, strategy, economics, technology and public policy.

Editorial Standards & Accountability Policy

1. Accuracy and Fact-Checking

Vetting process: All strategic analysis and factual claims undergo a mandatory two-step editorial review. Sensitive or exclusive claims require at least two independent, verifiable sources. We prioritise primary documents (government reports, tender notices, official releases) and clearly indicate when anonymous sources are relied upon.

AI policy: Generative AI is not used to write or produce analysis. AI tools may be used only for transcription, translation or data analysis, and any use will be disclosed in the article notes.

2. Corrections Policy

Submitting a correction: If you find an error, email corrections@theindianhawk.com with details and supporting evidence. Transparency: Substantive factual errors will be corrected promptly; our standard timeframe is within 24 hours of verification. A visible Correction Note will be added to the article stating what was corrected and why.

3. Independence from Influence

Editorial decisions are made independently of advertising, sponsorship and political influence. Journalists and analysts must not accept gifts, paid travel, or payments from entities they cover. Sponsored content is clearly labelled as "SPONSORED CONTENT" and kept separate from newsroom analysis.
