This procurement is part of a broader emergency initiative by the Ministry of Defence, spurred by recent geopolitical tensions. The decision to fast-track the acquisition follows lessons learned from Operation Sindoor, an April confrontation with Pakistan.

The Chimera 200 is designed to neutralize combat drones, a growing threat in modern warfare, within a three-kilometer radius. This technology could give the Indian Army a crucial advantage in protecting its assets and personnel.

The move is timely, as it coincides with a global increase in drone-based warfare and surveillance. This contract not only provides a vital defensive tool but also signals confidence in India's private sector to meet critical national security needs.
