Northeast India Achieves Outstanding Results in 2025 ICSE & ISC Exams

Guwahati, May 1
— Schools across Northeast India have delivered a stellar performance in the 2025 ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) examinations, setting a high academic benchmark for the region. Released on Wednesday by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), the results reveal not only high pass percentages across the board but also exceptional individual achievements that underscore the region’s growing educational prowess.

Perfect Pass Rates in ISC Across Five States

Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Manipur recorded a flawless 100% pass rate in the ISC Class 12 examination. These results reflect both the students' diligence and the focused efforts of educational institutions in these states.

Notably, Manipur and Nagaland, despite having smaller candidate pools, maintained their impeccable record, emphasizing quality over quantity in educational outcomes.

ICSE Results Maintain High Standards

The Class 10 results across the Northeast remained consistently strong, with most states reporting pass percentages above 98%. Assam, in particular, stood out with a 99.81% ICSE pass rate

The performance gap between genders was minimal but noteworthy: in Assam’s ICSE exam, girls achieved a perfect 100% pass rate, while boys closely followed at 99.66%.

Arunachal Pradesh saw a similarly strong ICSE showing, with a total pass rate of 98.19%. Girls again led the way with 98.86% against boys’ 97.64%

Meghalaya’s ICSE results showed near parity between genders, while Tripura recorded the lowest pass rates in the region but still maintained a commendable 96.31% in ICSE and 95.32% in ISC.

Schools Leading Academic Excellence

Among standout institutions, Assam Valley School and Sanskriti the Gurukul, both in Assam, garnered attention for their consistent academic performance.

At Assam Valley School:

  • The ISC batch achieved an average aggregate of 83.75%.
  • Top scorers included Aayat Hazarika in Humanities (99.25%), and Anoushka Singh and Anushka Jitani (both 97.50%) in science.
  • The ICSE batch averaged 84.36%, with Agnivh Prakash Bora leading at 97.20%.
  • A remarkable 33 students across both classes secured scores close to 99%.

Sanskriti The Gurukul reported:

  • An ICSE average of 91.03%, with Mridusmit Maharsi scoring a stellar 99%.
  • Ten students scored 97% and above.
  • In ISC, Sanya Agarwal led with 98%, contributing to the school’s average of 89.2%.

These schools exemplify the role of well-resourced and academically driven institutions in shaping top performers.

Tripura: High Participation, Mixed Outcomes

Tripura had the highest number of candidates in ISC (577) and a strong showing in ICSE (542). However, it also recorded the lowest pass percentages among the northeastern states.

Boys edged ahead in ICSE results, while girls led in ISC — a reversal of the trend seen in several other states.

Broader Implications and Trends

The outstanding performance across the Northeast reflects a broader regional trend toward educational development, often underrepresented in national narratives.

Improved infrastructure increased parental investment in private schooling, and an emphasis on holistic learning have begun to pay dividends.

Additionally, the narrowing gender gap — and in many cases, female academic outperformance — signals a promising shift toward gender equity in education across traditionally underserved regions.

Conclusion

The 2025 CISCE results offer a compelling look at the rising academic standards in Northeast India. With near-universal pass rates, gender-balanced performance, and a number of high-achieving students, the region is steadily becoming a stronghold of educational excellence.

As states continue to invest in quality teaching and student support, this trajectory is likely to accelerate, positioning Northeast India as a key contributor to the country’s academic future.
