Every year on January 12, National Youth Day (Yuva Diwas or Swami Vivekananda Anniversary) is celebrated with full enthusiasm and joy in India. It is celebrated to commemorate the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, the creator of modern India. It was first announced by the Indian government in the year 1984 to celebrate the birthday of Swami Vivekananda as National Youth Day. And since then (1985), it started celebrating as National Youth Day across the country.

History of National Youth Day

It is well known that on 12 January, the birthday of Swami Vivekananda was announced by the Indian government to celebrate National Youth Day every year. This decision was taken by the Indian government to inspire Swami Vivekananda's philosophy and his paragons towards the youth of the country. It was decided to celebrate Swami Vivekananda's birthday as National Youth Day to fulfill the goal of improving the future of the country by encouraging youth through Swami Vivekananda's doctrines and lifestyle.
