New Delhi: In a significant blow to the armed insurgency, Indian security forces have eliminated two senior members of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) central committee, reducing the group's highest decision-making body to just ten members.
The neutralized individuals were identified as Kadari Satyanarayana Reddy and Katta Ramchandra Reddy, both holding key positions within the organization. The operation took place in the dense Abujhmad forests along the Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra border. This action is part of a sustained, nine-month-long government effort that has systematically targeted and dismantled the Maoist leadership.
This strategic success comes at a critical time, highlighting the government’s firm stance against armed groups. While one Maoist faction leader, Sonu, had recently proposed a peace negotiation with the government, the central committee of the CPI (Maoist) swiftly disowned the offer, stating it was an "individual decision" and not representative of the party's official position.
As a result, the group continues to advocate for armed struggle, rejecting any talks or negotiations with the government.

The operation has been widely praised by top government officials, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah commending the security forces for "systematically dismantling the top Naxal leadership" and "breaking the backbone of red terror."
This action reinforces the government’s consistent policy of prioritizing decisive action over dialogue with armed groups. The neutralization of these high-profile leaders sends a clear message about the government's resolve to curb Naxalism and restore peace and stability in the affected regions.

This latest development marks a major milestone in the ongoing fight against the insurgency, as it significantly degrades the Maoists' command and control structure.
As reported by the Deccan Chronicle, the two slain Maoists each carried a bounty of $40 lakh in Chhattisgarh, underscoring their importance to the organization and the value of this strategic victory for the government.
