About Indian Armed Forces (Defence):

The Indian Armed Forces are the Republic of India's military forces. The Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force are the three professional uniformed services that make up the Indian Armed Forces.

The Central Armed Police Forces, Assam Rifles, Indian Coast Guard, and Special Frontier Force, as well as several inter-service commands and organisations such as the Strategic Forces Command, the Andaman and Nicobar Command, and the Integrated Defence Staff, support the Indian Armed Forces.

The Indian Armed Forces are led by the President of India, who is also the Supreme Commander. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) of the Government of India is in charge of the Indian Armed Forces.

It is the world's second-biggest military force, with over 1.4 million active soldiers, and the world's largest volunteer army. It also boasts the world's third-largest defence budget.

The Indian Armed Forces are the world's fifth-most powerful military, according to a 2015 Credit Suisse report, and the fourth-most powerful military according to the 2020 GlobalFirepower report.
