First P15B Stealth Guided-missile Destroyer

The Indian Navy received its first P15B stealth guided-missile destroyer from Mazgaon Dock Shipbuilders on Thursday, according to an official statement issued on Saturday.

The building and delivery of this latest addition to the Indian Navy fleet, dubbed "Visakhapatnam," is yet another demonstration of the government and Navy's support for indigenous warship development programs, according to the statement.

From its deck, a guided-missile destroyer may launch guided anti-aircraft missiles.

"The induction of the destroyer will not only improve the combat readiness of the Indian Navy, but will also be a significant step forward in our drive for Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliance in India)," it added.
