Two security personnel injured in mine explosion along LoC

Two security personnel suffered injuries in a mine explosion along the Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote area of Poonch district in Jammu & Kashmir.

JAMMU: Two security personnel suffered injuries in a mine explosion along the Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote area of Poonch district in Jammu & Kashmir on Wednesday.


Sources said the explosion took place near a forward Army post, resulting in injuries to an Army jawan and a BSF employee deployed there. 


The Army jawan is posted with 14 Punjab Regiment while the BSF jawan is deputed with 59 Battalion of BSF deployed along the LoC in Poonch district. Both the injured were shifted to an Army hospital.


Sources added that the nature of the explosion was yet to be ascertained, but it appeared to be a stray landmine on which the injured jawan had stepped accidently.
