Virar Car Accident: A 45-year-old English educator from Virar meets an untimely demise after hit by SUV car on a congested thoroughfare Thursday evening. The locals apprehended the driver, a 24-year-old man suspected of inebriation, and handed him over to the Arnala police.
At approximately 5:30 pm, Atmaja Kasat, who was a lecturer at Viva College, was making her way home to Virar West after her duties. Near Bolinj, a Fortuner collided with her from behind, propelling her onto the road divider and inflicting grievous cranial injuries. A nearby motorist quickly transported her to an adjacent private medical facility, where she succumbed to her injuries around 10 pm.

Preliminary police investigations indicated that the driver, Shubham Patil, a Virar inhabitant and the progeny of a local quarry entrepreneur, was likely under the influence of alcohol during the incident and accompanied by three associates. Upon seizing the vehicle, law enforcement officials discovered alcohol containers inside.

Following an autopsy, Kasat’s body was returned to her family. She educated junior college scholars and participated in social service. She is survived by her spouse Rajesh, the vice-president of the Maharashtra Class Owners Association, and their two offspring. The final rites were conducted on Friday.

Authorities are scrutinizing CCTV recordings and awaiting Patil’s medical reports to ascertain whether he was indeed under the influence of alcohol. He faces charges including culpable homicide not amounting to murder, rash and negligent driving, hazardous driving, and drunk driving.
