Under its Mission Reach Out, the Indian Army distributed Covid-19 preventive kits to veterans and Veer Naris of Mendhar Tehsil near LoC in Poonch district of J&K on Monday.
The Army had launched “Mission Reach Out” in Jammu in 2019 to ensure basic necessities and essential services were available in the region post the scrapping of the special status of J&K under Article 370 and reorganisation of the erstwhile state.
The aim of the event on Monday was also to spread awareness of the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic that continues to grip the nation.
As part of the awareness programme, the online procedure to register on www.cowin.gov.in was also explained and demonstrated to the veterans and Veer Naris.The veterans and Veer Naris expressed their gratitude for efforts and appreciated the support rendered by Indian Army.
Covid-19 kits were distributed to three Veer Naris and 10 former servicemen.
Jammu and Kashmir on Monday reported 37 new COVID-related fatalities and 1,525 new cases.
According to the government data, 1,000 of the fresh cases were reported from Kashmir division and 525 in Jammu.
