Sawan 2023 Start date and End Date: This year (2023) the Sawan month starts from 4th July to 31st August 2023, Totaling 59 days. Usually the Sawan month lasts for 30 days but this year the month holds more significance as after 19 years of gap, and eight Sawan Mondays will be observed this year instead of four. This is because the Hindi Panchang’s Nav Samvatsar 2080 is going on, which will be for 13 months causing an Adhik Mas (extra month).

Sawan 2023 Puja Vidhi


Start your Sawan Puja with bathing in the early mornings, then go to the Shiva temple. If possible go barefoot, keep Gangajal or normal water along. Go to the temple and offer water on the Shivling. Bow down and Prostrate to the Almighty.

Standing there, chant Shiva Mantra 108 times. Avoid eating except fruits. Chant Shiva mantras in the evening, and do Aarti with utmost devotion. The next day, if possible donate food and clothes according to your comfort, and then end your fast.

Auspicious Time or Shubh Muhurta for Shravana 2023

  • Brahma Muhurta- 4:19 in the morning to 4.50 am
  • Abhijeet Muhurta- 12 am to 12 noon 54 minutes
  • Vijay Muhurta- 2:45 pm to 3:40 pm

What to offer on Shivling?


Various things are offered on the Shivling to please Lord Shiva on Monday of Sawan. On this day, Gangajal, Belpatra, Dhatura, cannabis, camphor, milk, rice, sandalwood, Rudraksha and Bhasma are offered on Shivling. By offering these things on the Shivling, a person’s sleeping fate can wake up.

What not to offer on Shivling?


According to Shivpuran, Shiva devotees should not offer water from turmeric, vermilion, Tulsi Dal, Kumkum or Roli, Sesame, Akshat (rice), red flowers, ketki or kevade flowers and conch on Shivling.
